The Death of Cliff Muntu

        The university is an education institute which is used to get knowledge by many people. They want to develop their knowledge in order it is more expanded and complete. Because of it, they compete to get a good education institute. Although many good institutes, sometimes, some of them have a bad education system. We can look it, because there are some violence actions in a university, IPDN.

IPDN is a reincarnation of STPDN. If we know a tragedy of Cliff Muntu, there is something which caused the violence of systematic education at IPDN. The same phenomenon also happened at STPDN. It becomes an attention public in 2003 after the death of Wahyu Hidayat who is maltreated by his seniors. The implication of his death is many students of STPDN considered the violence action become a culture at the campus.

            The government had tried to keep the name of his institution. His effort was replace the name of STPDN becomes IPDN. Although the name had been change, the reform of the system has not indicated the change of the violence at the campus. Before the effort’s government can be a fact, a tragedy at IPDN happened again. As the effect, the society appraise that the phenomenon of Clliff Muntu death had indicated that the government and society can not be sense.

            The campus should give the education result which has high quality to the students. But, the government collateral about the education result which has a quality is still far from our hope. Reform the quality at the campus causes the differences social class in the education society.

            The differences social class and the violence cultures cause the death of some students. As we know that the death of Wahyu Hidayat and Cliff Muntu are caused by the cruel treatment of their seniors.

            The death of Cliff Muntu causes many factors which is very influential to his families and the campus. His families are very disappointed with this tragedy. They regretted why the tragedy had happened when he was studying. They love him very much and they want him become a success person, but it is just a hope. Now, they only recall him.

               Then the rector of IPDN, I Nyoman Sumaryadi was discharged from his leadership at IPDN. It is considered not enough to burden the official university. The problem at IPDN is not appeared, because an action by one person, but it can be done by many people. It could also happen because the implication of the wrong system implementation.

            After the discharge of the rector, we wait the other concrete steps which will be done by the government to burden the badness at the campus. Nine territories of jurisdiction at IPDN Jatinangor, Sumedang were discharged not formally and thirty nine of the other get indisciplinary sanction. They come from Maluku, West Nusa Tenggara, North Sulawesi, Papua, and West Java contingent are only discharged, but also they must return all attributes and facilities which had been received. They also have to make up the education costs about six hundred thousand until eleven millions rupiah.

            Besides, many contraventions are in the society. Some people want IPDN is dispersed, because this institution make many mistakes in its activities. The other want it is still defended. If it will be defended, the regulation and the curriculum must be corrected. The alumnus of the official university should compete with the alumnus of the other universities. The system of the teaching at IPDN must also be corrected.

Since the death of the Cliff Muntu, the campus of IPDN in Jatinangor, Sumedang is looked more desolated. This situation is supported by the security who does not permit all people go to the environment of IPDN. Now, going into the campus without the exact reasons are more difficult relatively.

The death of Cliff Muntu, a student from Manado, North Sulawesi adds the list of the violence cases in this government education. It causes many effect, such as the discharge of the rector and the territory of jurisdiction at IPDN, there are some contravention about the violence at IPDN must be stopped and the curriculum must be corrected in order the education system will be better.
